BASECAMP BREWING CO.
IN PORTLAND, OREGON
Come join us for an afternoon of spoon carving at Base Camp Brewing Company in Portland, Oregon! This workshop has been strategically created by small home goods company Wood Intimations and was designed for the complete beginner carver!
Artisan couple Danielle and Hy Boltz will lead students in hand carving their very own wooden spoon from blank to finish. The workshop begins with a mini heartfelt discussion about the parallels between the ancient art of spoon carving and presence along with an explanation of the tools needed and some basic wood cutting techniques.
If you love carving and would like to take your tools home with you, you can do so for an additional $44. Take a peak at the toolkit.
STUDENTS WILL BE SHOWN:
How to dig out the bowl of the spoon
How to whittle the handle and top of the spoon safely
How to sand and finish the spoon
A borrowed toolkit with a Flexcut carving knife, palm gouge and carving jig (take home for an additional $44)
Soup spoon blank that you will transform into a functional piece of art
Beer token (may substitute kombucha or soda)
Well articulated verbal + written instruction
These workshops are thoughtfully put together to create a relaxing, playful, unique experience for everyone attending. You will find simple, sweet, homemade touches scattered throughout our time together.
There are limited seats available. Please wear safe, toe covered shoes and try to arrive 10 minutes before class begins to get set up.
Come enjoy learning something new with your community and enjoy a locally made craft beer (after you finish your spoon)!
